Art Reception Features $50,000 in Local Art Purchases

The Minnesota State Community and Technical College—Moorhead Art Committee has completed its 2007-2008 purchases of local art through the Minnesota Per Cent for Arts Program. While funds may be used to acquire works by national artists, the MSCTC committee chose to select local professional artists for over fifty thousand dollars in purchases.

The acquisitions include a stained glass installation designed by Gary Baune and produced by the Lightbenders of Fargo. Artworks by Brad Bachmeier, Kimble Bromley, Timothy Ray, Mike Marth, Meg Spielman Peldo, Dan Jones, plus many other professional area artists have been added to the existing collection which showcases 2006 purchases by Walter Piehl and Star Wallowing Bull, among others. In addition to the Per Cent for Arts purchases, the MSCTC—Moorhead Art Fund’s 2007-2008 acquisitions include abstract works by Bill Kramer, plus the photographs of Meg Luther Lindholm which represent the diverse cultures of MSCTC students.

The public is invited to attend a reception in honor of the artists and their works on May 2, from 4:30-6:30 in the West Commons on the campus of MSCTC Moorhead. Light refreshments will be served.
