NCAC Winter Art Auction

From the eye to the canvas…  “Reflections,” the theme of the NCAC’s Winter Art Auction, clearly defines the thought process of an artist as he sees everyday sights, shapes and subjects and then places the final image before the public eye.

The winter auction will be held Sunday, March 13 in the Pekin Community Center. The event will open with wine and hors d’oeuvres at 3 p.m. followed by a live auction at 4 p.m. Admission is $10 per person and includes a bidding card. The event is made possible by the sponsorship of McVille (ND) State Bank. Halvorson Boote Auction Service, Binford ND, will conduct the auction and the Farmers and Merchants State Bank, Tolna, ND, will provide the clerks.

“The number of participants last year for the online auction held before the live auction was pleasantly surprising, said NCAC director, Brenda Bjorlie. We were so thrilled with the results that the auction will once again be available online. The e-mails received from those that bid from out of state and within North Dakota, indicated that we were able to introduce our artists to a new audience, which was our intent. The live auction set an attendance record and was as lively as ever with the majority of the bids surpassing the online bids. We are excited to see how it works this year.”

Bjorlie said, “The online auction was planned to go online on March 1 as shown on our posters, but due to the “awful flu bug” it has been delayed. We are asking the public to check the website daily and hope to have it ready by March 4.” Participants may bid up to midnight, March 12. The online bids will be held in reserve, and the live auction will be conducted as usual. Online bids that were not overbid during the live auction will be held as the awarded bid and the participant will be notified on Monday following the auction. The online auction is available on the Pekin/NCAC website, http://www.pekinnd.com.
