NDSU Debut Fall Season with The Wild Party

Visit the Roaring Twenties with a Broadway classic

With the opening of its 98th season, NDSU’s Little Country Theater is set to open its season with its rendition of the award-winning Broadway production The Wild Party. Set in the 1920’s,
the production will feature the talents of Broadway composer Andrew Lippa who is currently
serving as an Artist in Residence at the college.

The show centers around two vaudeville performers, Queenie and Burrs. Queenie, a vivacious showgirl, falls for Burrs, a clown, and the two eventually move into an apartment together. The result is several years of turmoil and distrust exacerbated by torrid affairs and drunken quarrels. Looking to recreate their whirlwind romance, the two decide to throw a, “party to end all parties,” in the hopes that it will rekindle their now seemingly defunct passion for each other. The result is, as one would imagine, far from what they expect.

A cocktail composed of equal parts love, betrayal and lust, The Wild Party is set in the perfect early 1900’s backdrop. With the play being set in the Roaring Twenties, audiences will be
treated to lively musical pieces composed by the talented Andrew Lippa, along with the wild = and rebellious tone that is so often associated with the time period. Part musical, part raucous tribute to its time period, The Wild Party is the perfect energetic opening for another successful season for NDSU’s fine arts department.

The Wild Party runs Oct. 20th-23rd at NDSU’s Askanase Auditorium, with shows starting at 7:30 PM Thursday through Saturday and at 2 PM on Sunday. Tickets are $18 for Adults and $15 for non-NDSU students and $8 for NDSU students.
