If you’ve ever felt like you were destined to do something amazing with your life but you weren’t yet certain exactly what that something was, you may relate to Katrina, an ambitious caterpillar that’s the main character in a story of dreams, faith, and personal growth.
In Tawyna Bulger’s children’s book, “Katrina: Growing Wings,” you follow Katrina’s journey from a humble beginning as a caterpillar that no one believes in to a beautiful butterfly whose relationship with God gave her the power to become what she had always strived to be.

Throughout the story, Katrina proves to be a relatable character. As she struggles through the ridicule of her peers and the confusion of being stuck in a discouraging situation that she can’t control, a feeling of doubt begins to seep into her mind pertaining to her trust in God.

Ultimately she overcomes the pressure to surrender and her hope for fulfilling her destiny prevails.

It’s a simple yet inspiring story that goes to show that determination pays off and that hardships often result in triumphs that are more rewarding than ever anticipated.

A resident of Minnesota and a graduate of MSUM, the author has had a love for writing ever since she was an adolescent. She currently works for a company that provides assistance to special needs individuals and volunteers in the youth ministries at her church.

Taking part in the lives of children with special needs opened her eyes to certain struggles and helped to inspire the story of Katrina, which was published by Tate Publishing in 2008.

Tawnya Bulger will be reading and signing copies of her books at Melberg Christian Book and Gift Store, located at 16 North 4th Street in Moorhead, on October 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and at Zandbroz Variety, located at 420 Broadway North in Fargo, on October 11th, also from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
