The Old Detention Hospital
Most of our best bets are not expensive and involve only $5 and a way to prove you are over 21. Not this one. For this you’ll need assets or access to credit in the seven figures. The deadline to bid on the old Fargo Detention Hospital (1914) is Monday, March 17 at 10:00am, at the Cass County Courthouse. The County Commission recently tried to sell the property to the Fargo Housing Authority for one dollar, but they probably won’t extend you the same courtesy. The hospital is a good solid old brick building with marble floors and high windows and ceilings, on seven lots. And the location! Overlooking parks and the river, near the toll bridge. The right person, maybe you, could create a most prestigious small apartment building, an ornament of the city, save part of our heritage and make money doing it. Any takers?

FM Chamber of Commerce: Energy Conference
To develop wind power, to get the electricity from producer to big-city consumer, a federal agency for transmission lines is needed. Texas and California have more wind power because they have big cities close to their wind farms. The Dakotas need a national transmission grid. Wind has the potential to repopulate rural areas, transforming the countryside. Our elected representatives should give the matter a high priority on their list of earmarks. We hope someone raises this question at the conference. March 18, 6-9pm, Holiday Inn across from West Acres. For information, please call (701) 233-1100, (701) 282-2700.
