Eating my Way Through Town in Two-and-a-Half Weeks
Well, I can hardly believe it, but the break is over. I have had a blast going to lunch with my girlfriends and even on my own. I wanted to share some of the places we ate at.
First, I want to just say it out loud and get it over with. I love Subway! There I said it. I have found that I crave the tuna sandwich. I have gone to many of them around town and I have never had a complaint, OK, maybe one time I did. But I am not going to share that.
Anyway, I get this sandwich that is not only tasty but, well, it is like a salad too. And I can never complain about the bread or the price, both very tasty in the mouth and the pocket.
Another place where I was on my own was John Alexander’s in Moorhead. I treated myself to a burger and fries, OK and a margarita. I think I am maybe being a little too honest here. Anyway, when I got my meal I knew right away I was not going to finish it.
I have never seen such a big burger. I ordered the stuffed cheese burger. It comes with a warning too. This is hot cheese in the middle, so be careful. Well, no worries there, I have to cut it in half just to start eating it. Delicious!!!
Then there are those fries—crunchy, yet soft when you bite into them—simply yum. When I left I was satisfied and Mike was happy to have partaken in this great meal.
Another place that I just never thought about going to was Doolittle’s on 25 th street. I was invited to lunch and was excited to eat there because of my sister. Now I was very happy to be included with the girls, but my sister was raving about this place during a phone call to me from Arizona—something about a flatbread that was wood-smoked.
It has a wonderful flavor with grilled shrimp, jalapeno peppers, peaches, parmesan cheese, fresh cilantro and a Thai Chili sauce—absolutely to die for. Now, what is interesting about this is that there are only two of these and we have one. YIPPIE for Fargo. The other one is located in Eagan Minnesota. SO, anyway, that was a good call from my sister.
I found myself also craving sushi and that, of course, is a no-brainer for me. Yukihana and the lunch box, If you have not tried it, I highly suggest it. It is a very cost efficient lunch.
I was also finally able to make it back to Toscana in downtown Fargo. I have eaten there twice before, but to be very honest, I just had not found the dish for me. I am a sausage and pepper gal for sure, or maybe spaghetti and meatballs.
Anyway I found it—a Black tiger shrimp, grilled sliced chicken, tomatoes, green onions, and sliced mushrooms tossed with penne pasta in their signature cayenne pepper parmigiano cream sauce. THAT IS THE TICKET!!!!!!!
I ate at many other places, which I am sure you have gotten the picture that I was on an eating feast for two and half weeks.
However, one of the best things I put into my mouth was actually made by a friend. Roberta Solien made some of the BEST short bread cookies I have ever had. It was so hard not to make a pig out of myself. Oh that’s right I did. Oh well, what are the holidays for anyway?
It was a great time. So, as much as I want to say boo hoo, I am not going to be able to go to lunch for a while. I am happy to say I am now going to eat on the beach for the next two weeks and I am going to really enjoy sharing that with you.
I will think of all of you as I take that bite of jerk chicken and sip on my beach drink. Really I will.
Until next week, eat well and stay safe. Any questions or comments write .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
