Just Smashing: New Burgers Delight the Palate

What makes a great burger? Is it the beef, the condiments, the bun? Well Smashburger seems to have the answer. Its all of these things and more. Recently, I visited the newest burger place in Fargo-Moorhead and it was insanely busy. Even with a long line at the counter it took little time to get served. The service was quick, friendly, and our server had some awesome suggestions.
I tried the half-pound Spicy Baja Burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The burger was flavorful to say the least. A butter grilled beef patty topped with pepper-jack cheese, guacamole, lettuce tomato, onion, spicy mayo and fresh jalapenos on a spicy burger bun. My side of sweet potato fries were crispy, perfectly seasoned in garlic herb and a touch of olive oil and salt. My only complaint was that I ran out of them way too quickly!
The meal was a welcome change from the everyday burgers we usually get; the oversauced, overcooked, and overseasoned burgers made to feed the masses. Everything on the menu was reasonably priced with no burger or chicken sandwich at over $6.99. The menu offers something for everyone; like the salads, most notably the honey mustard chicken salad. Imagine: fresh mixed greens topped with chicken, bacon, cheese, tomatoes, red onions, and served with a creamy honey mustard dressing.
Don’t like burgers? How about great hot dogs? If that’s what you want; that’s what you will find it at Smashburger. Everything from a classic dog with mustard ketchup, and relish to a North Dakota smoked sausage topped with sauerkraut pickles and a spicy mustard.
And, as if the meal wasn’t decadent enough, I just had to try one of Smashburgers famous Haagen Dazs milk shakes served in a frosted mug.
All I have to say is WOW! I’ll be at the gym for a week straight, working off the calories from that one meal. But it was well worth it. Smashburger will definitely give all the other burger joints in Fargo a run for their money, and its a definite shoo-in for a repeat visit.
