Unique Cuisine Blossoming in Fargo

With all the new up and coming restaurants and stores in Fargo it was an absolute thrill to find the Lotus Blossom on Main Ave. in Fargo. Owners Khna Chroeung and Kina Wong feel they have something new and special to offer to the community. I found that their store was fresh and exciting to go through. I suggest that when yo have a chance that you go to 2750 Main Ave. and check them out. Here are a few questions I ask them for you, the readers:

HPR:  Could you both please give us a brief background on yourself?
LB:  We have been family friends for over 10 years. Kina worked in retail and in food service at Innovis for over eight years and Khna worked in research and development at the former Sugar Sand Marine for over 10 years.

HPR:  Why did you feel the FM area should have another Asian Market? What do you offer that is different? Or what about your store stands out from the other Asian business?
LB:  We wanted to open a business that would offer the best customer service with a spacious, clean area to shop. We offer a variety of products at competitive prices.

HPR:  How often will you have items like ready-to-eat Duck in your store?
LB:  We have ready to eat items every weekend and some items are available throughout the week.

HPR:  Can you tell our readers about some of the other ready-to-eat items you have?
LB:  Desserts, sandwiches and a variety of instant hot coffee.

HPR:  Do you have any ambition to have a restaurant in your building?
LB:  Maybe for the future.

HPR:  Tell me how you came up with the name Lotus Blossom?
LB:  The lotus blossom is slowly blossoming and is a common flower in Asia.

HPR:  Do either of you cook, and if so, can you give the readers a simple recipe?
LB:  Yes, we both can cook. We are actually in the process of coming up with recipes to offer at our store for those that are by-the-book cooks. We would have all of the items needed in our store and will show customers what to buy and tips for the dishes coming out successful.

HPR:  Would you ever consider having cooking classes in your store?
LB:  Yes, we have actually talked about doing a cooking class. We are still working on details of when it would be and again coming up with recipes to give out at the classes.

HPR:  What do you think is the biggest misconception about Asian food?
LB:  Many people that have not learned how to cook Asian food become overwhelmed with what to buy and where to start. Asian food is actually easier to cook that people think. People that we have talked with state that they don’t know where to start or what to buy. Some also think that Asian food is complicated to cook but it’s actually very easy.

HPR:  Is there anything I have not asked that you would like to tell the HPR readers?
LB:  We do have a suggestion box if there are items that our customers are looking for that we don’t have, and we will do our best to get those items in.
