What, Microwave??
Well, as weird as this, I am going to write about already packaged food. Yep, I eat it too. I have found that what I seem to have drifted back to was, well, Raman, I like it. I am so busy sometimes that by the time I remember to eat, it is the handy thing. I love noodles and I am so not against quick and easy.
Anyway, I started thinking “I wonder what other foods would be quick, easy and maybe just slightly more exciting?” We do live now in that world of fast and easy, right? I started looking at what different ethnic foods would be good. There were three at the top of my list.
The first microwaveable item was purchased at a local Asian store. The product was made by Kohinoor. Kohinoor is an authentic Indian product. They have everything from spices to full meals. When visiting the official site for Kohinoor it states “For the last three decades, Kohinoor has been one of India’s largest food companies, with a unique blend of family values, quality assurance and great taste. Still owned and managed by the Arora family, Kohinoor offers a wide range of spices, curry sauces, rices and other authentic Indian delicacies across India and sixty other worldwide offices. What’s more, the whole range is entirely vegetarian, making an ideal base for any type of curry for every different taste.”
Of course, the rice & curry dish was vegetarian. I am very very anal about rice in general. So having it in a dish, it better be GOOD. Well, not only was this good, but actually the word good does not say enough. It was like I had gone directly to a restaurant and had the meal made right there. One of the best things I have ever had. It was Kashmiri Rajma (red kidney beans cooked in rich tomato sauce) with steamed Basmati Rice. Not only was this affordable, $3.99, but filling. If you know me and how I like to eat, that says a lot. Oh yes, no preservatives!

Next on my list was a great salad made by Ready Pac. Honestly I would not have looked twice at this product, but it was marked down a lot and so I decided to try it. I purchased a spinach bacon salad. In fact I bought two. Mike and I had it for supper, wonderful. Right down to the salad dressing. The spinach was fresh and the bacon and egg and other sides were yummy yummy. So I bought it on sale and imagine how good it is fresh. Other items, which there are zillions, are Chef, Chicken Caesar, Chicken Cranberry Walnut, Cobb, and Spinach Bacon. I found them at Hornbachers.
Ok, I have now come full circle to noodles. Although we have many new places around town now to get great noodles, I have found some pretty good affordable ones in the store. I only purchase these when they are on sale. My favorite line is “Simply Asia”. In visiting one of their sites it is stated that “They have traveled the Orient to bring you the famous and delicious flavors that have made this food loved throughout the world. Following long kept traditional recipes, our sauces and seasonings capture each Asian region’s distinct character and flavor.” I just had the soy ginger noodle bowl. Although the picture on the box is really not for veggies, it had nice flavor, not to heavy with the ginger.
So that’s my trip down microwave lane. I own one and yes I use it. So there you have it. Only three ideas, but there are a million of them online and in the stores. I would love to know what and if you have some other meals that would be good. Not interested in anything with meat though, if you don’t mind.
Ok eat well, stay safe until next week. And oh yes, today is 10 to 10 shop hours. Check out all the shops tonight downtown.
