Medora Musical’s Burning Hills Singers

Thursday May 26 - Fargo and Friday May 27 - Bismarck
The Medora Musical’s cast, the “Burning Hills Singers,” will provide two preview performances as a kick off to their 47th season. They will be performing at the West Acres food court on May 26 at 1 p.m. and on May 27 in Bismarck on the steps of the Capitol building at 12 p.m. The winning song of the North Dakota Super Songwriting Contest, titled “Always North Dakota,” will be performed at the Bismarck performance. These previews are FREE and everyone is invited to attend.

The event celebrates the brash, bold and brilliant comedy from the Red Raven over the last year. North Dakotan native and country musician Josh Harty will be performing songs from his latest solo project, ““A Long List of Lies”. According to fan Peter Innes, “Unadorned and honest, his writing on this album (“A Long List of Lies”) is informed and knowledgeable way beyond his years, skilled in honouring what’s gone before whilst sounding absolutely of today and his stories are simple, believable - this guy knows his stuff.” Donations are $10 with all proceeds going to the artists. The Listening Room is a part of the Spirit Room, located at 111 Broadway, Fargo.

Race the Red Canoe and Kayak Races

Looking for a great way to cool off this summer? Join in on the 19th annual River’s Keepers’ Race the Red canoe and kayak races on Monday, June 13. There will be two races: a competitive ten-mile race at 6 p.m. and a short two-mile race at 7:30 p.m. Both races begin at Lindenwood Park in Fargo and end at Midtown Dam/Dike East. Registration is $15 per solo entrant and $25 per team. A limited number of canoes and kayaks will be available for $15 to rent.To reserve a spot or for more information, call 701-235-2895.

Red River Watercolor Society National Juried Show

The Red River Watercolor Society (RRWS) National Juried Show will be on display at the Hjemkomst Center starting on June 21! The exhibit features 48 paintings on display from artists in 29 states and Canada. An opening reception will be held on Tuesday, June 21 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. and awards will be announced for the winning paintings. The opening reception is free and open to the public. The Fargo Theatre’s Executive Director, Margie Bailly, will be kicking off her retirement with a celebration at the Fargo Theatre on Wednesday June 5. It’s free, and EVERYONE is invited to attend. The party starts at 5 p.m. and will end at 7 p.m. At 5:45 p.m. there will be Sounds of the mighty Wurlitzer, and at 6 p.m. the program will start with Doug Hamilton as the emcee. Come thank Margie for her service to the community and to celebrate with Margie as she enters retirement!
