Cocktail Showdown

Now more than ever, it is of the utmost importance that you exercise your rights as an American citizen. You must be sure your voice is heard and accounted for. There is absolutely nothing more critical right now than casting your vote for the absolute, hands down, best mixed drink in all of Fargo/Moorhead.

The High Plains Reader is currently holding our 2nd Annual Cocktail Showdown, and this year, no one’s opinion is more important than yours. This year everyone 21+ in the F/M area is free to visit each of the bars that is featuring a drink and then go to our webpage and vote for which they like best. I highly suggest finding a DD to take you and some friends around to sample each and every cocktail, not only because the bars featured are from all around the city, but because each and every drink is guaranteed to be 100% worth it.

Each drink is lovingly formulated by the resident bartenders of each bar, who have ascended to an artesan level of craftsmanship in their trade. There’s more of an art to the mixed drink than most people realize. And now is the perfect chance to realize what delicious things can come from such a labor of love. Even speaking briefly with these bartenders, each one spoke in such a way about their creations that I knew that they couldn’t be more proud of what they had made.
Rightfully so, each cocktail is more than enough of an excuse to leave your Long Island Iced Tea and Sex On The Beach safe zone and see what you’ve been missing.

As with any art, the higher the level of craft and effort, the more personality and originality the artwork acquires. Mixed drinks are no exception. Every drink exudes their creator’s personal taste and twists. They range from Rooter’s Green Lantern, a verdant, energy drink infused mix, to Monte’s Caribbean Coffee Martini, with it’s creamy mocha flavor, to the previous year’s winner, Usher’s, and their Hangover Slayer, a mixture of several different “hangover cures” mixed to a perfection of both flavor and curing properties.

Each bar will have its drink available until at least November 10th, but some may not be available afterwards, so now is the perfect time to plan an evening out with a few friends sampling Fargo’s finest cocktails. The online polls will also close on November 10th, so be sure to vote on which one you loved the most. The High Plains Reader always encourages Fargo/Moorhead residents to get out and see what this city has to offer, The Cocktail Showdown is no exception.

Visit Vic’s, Usher’s, Tailgators, Sidestreet, Rooters, Passages at the Radisson, The Nestor Tavern, Monte’s, Maxwell’s, Green Mill, Granite City, Fargo Gastro Pub & Billiards, The Empire, Dempsey’s, and Three Lyons Pub, order and elect the winner in the People’s Choice category.
