Longing to lose yourself in autumn’s golden foliage or winter’s crisp, bleak, and beautiful twilight landscapes now that snow is no longer a reality? George Pfeifer is a well known Midwestern oil painter and watercolorist producing landscapes mainly of the Upper Midwest (North Dakota/Minnesota). There is a reason this artist has been showing annually at the Rourke: Come and aquaint yourself with his new landscapes this Sunday from 1:30p.m. to 3:30p.m. and hear the thoughts behind them.

Attention: If you are an established or emerging artist and live in North Dakota, Minnesota, South Dakota, Montana, Kansas, Nebraska, Saskatchewan or Manitoba, you are invited to participate in this regional juried exhibition at the Plains Art Museum. Art On the Plains XI will feature work of two- and three-dimensional media as well as installations and digital media, and will be curated by Hesse McGraw (curator for the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art in Omaha, Nebraska). Red Dragonfly Press 15th Anniversary

Roses are red, violets are blue, I’m going to the Red Dragonfly Poetry Event, and so should you!  Join in celebrating the publication of “Perfect Dragonfly – A Commonplace of Poems Celebrating a Decade and a Half of Printing and Publishing at Red Dragonfly Press.” Poets Thom Tammaro, Dale Jacobson, Athena Kildegaard, Patrick Hicks, Marjorie Buettner, Scott King and Fereydoun Faryad will be reading from their works.  Event is free and open to the public!

Hungry for beautiful art and fabulous desserts? Satiate both cravings by coming to the “Meet the Artist” public reception at Nichole’s Fine Pastry on Thurs. May 19 from 4p.m. to 6p.m. Various artists from the exhibitions “Earth, Air, Fire, Water” (a collection of paintings, prints and photos) and “Restyled on Purpose” (artwork made from recycled items) will be present and showcasing their work, which is on display at Nichole’s.

Syttende Mai Pølsefest

Who doesn’t like a good old-fashioned pølsefest? You might be thinking, what exactly IS a pølsefest? A party with hotdogs, of course! The Hjemkomst Center will be serving hotdogs in honor of Syttende Mai – May 17 – which is Constitution Day in Norway. Bring your kids along to celebrate!  Hotdogs will be served for $1.00 a piece. Museum admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and college students, and $5 for children.

One night only, rock out to “the best in the mid-west” as Union Pulse brings alternative country to Fargo. Union Pulse has released four full-length albums and has toured independently across the country. Zombies, pay attention! After your thirst for beer and booze has been quenched, stagger down to The Aquarium for a concert to end the Zombie Pub Crawl. Doors open at 9:00p.m., concert begins at 9:30p.m. Bands featured: More Than Lights, Kipp G and Tony the Butcher, and D Mills and the Thrills. Humans are also welcome to attend and are encouraged to bring more brains ... I mean ... friends. 21+ show, $10 cover charge, $7 for zombies.

Great Downtown Clean Up
Beginning at Duffy’s

Sadly, there comes a time after the Zombie Pub Crawl when Fargo zombies must clean off the fake blood and rotting flesh and become humans once again. They also should clean up after themselves from their night of devouring brains and bar specials. Help spruce up downtown Fargo on Sunday, May 15 by bringing garbage bags, gloves and your human self down to rewalk the crawl and clean the area. The Clean Up will begin at 12:30p.m., starting at Duffy’s.
