Turn off your engines and come join us for the second annual Streets Alive event in downtown Fargo on Sunday Aug. 28th, 2011. After hosting 6,500 people last year at this fun and crazy outing, we hope to see close to 8,000 participants this weekend. Make it a goal to move and groove for at least 30 minutes! Don’t miss Activity Alley to try out some new and fun outdoor fitness activities.
This Sunday, Oak Grove Park will be hosting multiple free group events for all ages. Take your pick and participate in one or all of these fun classes. Activity Alley will be offering zumba, yoga, hula-hooping, kids fitness, and other physical fitness opportunities. Amongst three miles of downtown Fargo streets that will be closed, the FM area encourages you to improve your long-term health by going out and feeling alive!
A popular dance-inspired fitness option called Zumba will be offered this Sunday in Activity Alley. Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance/fitness program that blends upbeat international music and contagious steps to form a “fitness party” that is downright addictive. It has become the world’s largest, most successful, dance-style fitness alternative. Why not give it a try? Join one of the classes in Oak Grove Park this weekend. On the other end of the spectrum, another fun fitness opportunity that is a little more low-key will be yoga.
Yoga is an extremely popular way of staying in shape, as well as relaxing, that has been practiced by many. It is definitely harder than it looks, so patience is recommended—especially if it is your first time trying it. Activity Alley will be offering a yoga session to help you find your inner peace. What better way than to clear your mind in the great outdoors while practicing your tree pose? Along with a few adult activities are kids options as well. Check out Oak Grove Park this Sunday to get your kids involved in the movement to create and sustain a healthy lifestyle.
Streets Alive was created to help make the FM area an ultra-healthy place to live and play. A three mile stretch of connecting streets will be shut down in order to encourage everyone to get outside and move! With the variety of healthy foods, family activities, fitness classes, health exhibits, and much more, the streets will be packed with people instead of automobiles.
