Normans
Normans is not your run-of-the-mill steak house. It leaves behind the usual country, back-woods atmosphere that you find in most steak houses and replaces it with an atmosphere that is very modern and classy. With the staff dressed in their best, cut-out wooden walls, crystal chandeliers, mixed patterns, and lounge spots located next to cozy, stone fireplaces, you will definitely feel like you stepped into one of Fargo’s most elegant steak houses. Soft music and delicate lighting set the relaxing ambiance of this new restaurant.
Normans owns their own cattle company and raises all of the beef they serve—nothing but homegrown Angus beef served here. They have an extensive menu, full bar, large selection of wines, and unique desserts, like their soon-to-be famous raspberry whiskey bread pudding. All these add up to what could be the perfect dining experience. For Valentine’s Day, they are offering a four course meal and a complimentary glass of champagne for $65 a person. For Valentine’s Day, in addition to their regular menu, they are offering a dinner-for-two special. You can choose from a main course of lobster tail and prime rib or slow-roasted tenderloin and sea bass provencal, two side dishes, a bottle of Rosemount wine, and a dessert to share. There will be a piano player and rose adorned tables, adding to the elegance of the evening. Call ahead for reservations.
Silver Moon Supper Club
With a style reminiscent of the film noir movies from the 1930s and 1940s, Silver Moon’s atmosphere can only be described as comfortably elegant. And indeed it is, for you can’t help but feel upscale yet relaxed when you enter the restaurant and see its sophisticated black and silver décor, large windows and giant booth seats that remind one of an open clamshell. Adding to the effect is the live piano music they have every night.
In fact, the Silver Moon is a reincarnation of the Silver Moon restaurant and lounge, formerly located in Moorhead, which had gained extreme popularity in the 1940s and 1950s. Owner Monte calls it the “rebirth of a legend.” A perfect place to relax by the fire and enjoy a drink after a movie or after partaking in downtown events. In fact, the Silver Moon won first place in the HPR’s First Annual Cocktail Showdown for its “holiday pear” cocktail.
For Valentine’s Day they will have a special menu, deserts, and drinks, featuring their pink champagne cocktail. Also, ladies will receive a chocolate rose after the meal. Reservations are strongly recommended and they also recommend making a reservation for the Friday before Valentine’s Day instead of the Saturday of, as available seating is filling up fast.

No matter where you sit, you have a full view of the restaurant and bar, which contributes to its comfortable and welcoming environment. There is an equality of atmosphere between the restaurant and the bar that radiates a lively feeling throughout the entire room.
With a menu full of exquisite items (the staff recommends trying the filet mignon or the halibut), an extensive wine list, and over 25 martinis, you are sure to find several things that will make your list of favorites. Also, their deserts are made exclusively for Monte’s by Nicole’s Fine Pastries. They will be running Valentine’s Day specials both Friday and Saturday, featuring additional items not found on the regular menu. Don’t forget to call for reservations.
