Manhattan Short Film Festival

The Manhattan Short Film Festival has been around for 12 years. This year they received 428 Short Film entries from 36 countries. They selected 10 Finalists’ Short Films which will be distributed through the Manhattan Short Cinema network between the 19th and 27th of September and will screen 532 times in 173 cities across 5 continents in one week.

The Film Festival’s mission is to unite audiences from all seven continents of the globe for one week via the most compelling short films submitted each year. “One World One Week One Festival” is emblazoned within the rings that surround the festival’s logo, and it is this mantra that sets them apart from any other film event of the year.

The Fargo-Moorhead area will be viewing the 10 short films the weekend of Sept. 25-27 (Friday-Sunday) at the Fargo Theatre. Friday’s showtimes are 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., Saturday’s showtimes are 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday’s showtimes are 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Viewers will be handed a ballot with their ticket and will get to vote for their favorite short, with the winner being announced in the Press Center on the Manhattan Short’s website, http://www.msfilmfest.com on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 10 p.m.

In 2009 the Festival includes venues in Asia and the Middle East. They will be including venues in Africa in 2010 and ice stations in Antarctica in 2011.
