Know Lyfe at the Raven

A little-known band is hitting the stage at both the Nestor and the Red Raven this coming weekend bringing us music that we can have a good time with. While touring, Know Lyfe has created their latest album, “Cold Hands and Dark Water,” which can be found at record stores and online by the end of January. Along with the creation of the album, the band has also set up more touring to happen this summer and fall so keep an eye out for a band that is set to take the world by storm and bring their style of metal to everyone they possibly can, that’s right I said metal and you may be surprised at what you will gain and learn from the band, and seeing a show just may be just the beginning.

“Our music, it’s a mixture of a lot of things. We are a band that loves all types of music and honestly a lot of eighties pop influences us. I know, weird, because we are a pretty heavy band most of the time, but you know that stuff really helps with adding melody and voicing to the music.

“From opening for national acts, we’ve been exposed to the professionalism, the bookkeeping, the promotion, all of it and we have learned how to sustain ourselves as a band because of it.

“But we do not go on that stage thinking we are the underdogs—we are no better or worse than any band, national or local. We only know how to do what we do. If we are opening we do what we are supposed to do, get the crowd warmed up for the other bands, but we won’t lie, we would like to be the band that steals the show.

“Any tour is fun.With other bands, you build friendships while seeing so many amazing thing, and living your dream. Playing with the bigger bands you get tons of exposure but at times can be overshadowed by their popularity of bigger bands. Independent tours you get exposure and people remember you a bit more but you struggle, big emphasis on struggle. You know we play a lot, but we love what we do so we find the time to write songs between weeks off, work, etcetera. We have three tours: this current winter tour, a spring tour, and then the Warped Tour in the summer.

The meaning of our name is to discover knowledge to search for truth, to involve yourself in the daily happenings of life and be aware of the great things you have and the things that you can help change in this world; to inspire the uninspired and to positively influence those who want to listen.

“Our scene: we are in your face, loud, and just downright nice dudes. We just want to rip your heads off in the nicest way possible. Expect energy, expect crowd participation, and a good time!
