Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself

On Wednesday September the tenth there will be fear hopefully struck into the hearts of many with the arrival of the septet known as Fear Before the March of Flames. They are currently on a North American tour with fellow Equal Vision label mates Damiera from New York.
Fear Before the March of Flames or fbtmof has been in existence since 2002 and has three full length albums in their discography as of right this moment, with a fourth album slated for October of this year.
They have a sound that is constantly evolving. Each one of the first three records is very different from the others. The way their sound flows seems far less forced than other bands they are compare to.

They seem to be able to evolve in a way that makes you take notice, but never leaves you longing for what you once had.

In their first two albums I often heard them compared to other bands but with their third album, “The Always Open Mouth” they were able to put all comparisons to rest. They are a band that can stand on their sound alone.

And they alone are all the reason you’ll need to come out and spend your ten dollars.

For that, though, you’ll also be able to see Damiera who just released their sophomore album “Quiet Mouth, Loud Hands” on Equal Vision Records. Before recording the album it looked as if they were done for. They’d broken up after their first release, “m(us)ic.”

The band was re formed with all new members by the original front man.

They are also a progressive rock band, who will probably draw comparisons to other bands, especially ones who are or have been on the Equal Vision roster. But they are doing these things very well, which counts for a lot to me.

If you are not familiar with these two bands’ label, Equal Vision, you should be. The fact alone they are signed to equal vision should be enough to get you off your couch, leave work early, not go to happy hour, not church either, not the Atmosphere show.

Fargo’s upcoming young legends of rock ‘n roll Faster on Building will be kicking it off at six p.m.

Though they are a hard act to follow, Sleeping in Gethsemane will mount the stage, dim the lights, and show you things you have never seen before, well at least not for ten bucks on a Wednesday night!

But check out I Am The Ocean’s set. They are from Salt Lake City and on Uprising Records.

And from there we keep on the magical journey with Damiera, and end the evening with Fear Before the March of Flames.

Hey, if you miss this show you will regret it.
