Pounding Bass, Flailing Limbs, Gyrating Bodies

Electronic music has found a new home in Fargo-Moorhead.  For whatever reason the community has seemed to embrace this new sound.  If pounding basslines and screaming synthesizers is what your looking for on a blistering cold night in Fargo then look no further, for Sovereign Sect has arrived.  Made up of Fargo natives Seth Holden (drums) and Chris Patano (dj/producer), the independent collective has been making music togethor for the past decade.  Originally a group of revolving instruments and musicians, the Sect has now cut it to a duo and have been answering the prayers of ravers for the past year.  Their sound is a mesh of many stylings but mostly consisting of hip/hop and electronic dubstep.  If you have yet to see a live show it is an experience like no other.  Glowsticks are abundant, hula hooping hippy chicks is a common staple, and the crowd seems to evolve into a unified mesh of flailing limbs and gyrating bodies.  For now Sovereign Sect is filling dancefloors with live shows but are working on putting a cd togethor.  Your next chance to catch them live will be on February 4th at the aquarium where they will be joined by eprom and eskmo.  The two stay busy not only with their music, but also with their booking agency, peaceful plains productions, which is responsible for the infamous “barn raves.”  Sovereign Sects next barn bash Lets Get It On will be a Valentines Day lovefest taking place on Febuary 13th.  Sovereign Sect will be joined by Audio Drop, Kraddy, and Jordash.  For more information you can find Sovereign Sect online at http://www.myspace.com/sovereignsectmusic.
