Queensryche: Seattle Sound Originals
Geoff Tate and band mates in the ever-popular band Queensryche have continued to stay busy and tour around the world to please fans everywhere they go with their broad array of music that they have created and will continue to create for years to come.
In 2008, not only do they plan to tour through the spring, they are also looking forward to stepping into the studio in March and presenting their latest body of work to the fans as early as Christmas. The new studio album has been written and worked on for the last six months while on the road. Not only have they written all the new songs for the upcoming album, they have also been preparing while on tour to go back into the studio to record, and with the touring that they are doing they have put the final touches on the songs and they are ready to be recorded.
There are some out there that would argue that the originators of the “Seattle” sound were Sound Garden or Nirvana, but in the eyes of rock fans and Queensryche fans everywhere, Queensryche, originally from Seattle, were the originators and leaders; and although that is such a broad spectrum of sound, it is one distinction that Queensryche is proud of and is honored to be known for, and they take it as a complement for the work they have done and for the bands that have come up after them.
Through the years, with all the changes in music, Queensryche have stayed up with music and have continued to write and record music in which they believe in and are proud of because of what they see as an emotional and mental outlook into the world; some songs are about what’s going on in the world and others are like a “crossword puzzle to put together” and every song is different and every song that they create brings out a different emotion.
Queensryche is known for the concept albums Operation Mind Crime and Operation Mind Crime Two, both great albums, and also for their solid rock albums that gave us songs like Silent Lucity and Jet City Woman. Last year they brought us the ever-popular covers album known as Take Cover, an album that they all contributed to with two of each member’s favorite songs. Geoff Tate brought to the thinking table an old opera tune and a Pink Floyd classic, “Welcome to the Machine,” both songs he says were interesting to use and to change up.
This spring while continuing to tour and preparing to record, Queensryche are heading to the Midwest cold and snow and wind to bring fans an acoustic show of their catalog of music and to give us a chance to see the band perform songs we know so well at Northern Lights Casino in Walker, MN, a drive worth taking to see one of the most talented and creative bands out there.
