Red Raven’s Third Anniversary Celebration
Dominic Fischer and Justin Lervik didn’t qualify for a traditional commercial loan but the pair believed in their vision so strongly that they maxed out their credit cards to build their dream. The Red Raven opened three years ago.
They wanted an establishment in downtown Fargo where age was not the criterion for entrance and the performance space was adequate for a venue of wide appeal.
The stage and performance room needed to be big enough for both acoustic and amplified bands, and yet intimate enough for poetry readings at midnight.
They wanted to offer the community an alternative to the bar scene. They wanted to provide artists an audience and the audience a place to appreciate the featured artists and they’ve done it!
Congratulations on your success and happy birthday Red Raven! You’ve come a long way in just three years.
Their mission defies stereotype. Rather than targeting a specific socioeconomic class, or selling something to a target market, The Red Raven provides an outlet for Fargo/Moorhead’s “creative class.”
They offer a stage for bands to perform, a microphone for poets and writers to be heard and a place for visual artists to show their works. A good cup of coffee is a work of art to many of us too.
After a major renovation, The Red Raven is celebrating its three years of operation with an extravaganza of artwork, poetry, musical performance and coffee. The celebration also features the grand opening of the John Meyer used book store, containing hundreds of used books ranging in price from three to five dollars.
Along with the addition of the bookstore, the decor has changed. It has evolved from being dark and graffiti-esque to neutral, the perfect backdrop for artwork of every kind. There are also new booths from late lamented Ralph’s Corner in the performance area.
Red Raven has a cause to celebrate and a community to celebrate with them! It is the perfect backdrop to explore avenues of the human condition through words, music, visuals or just a great conversation with a friend over coffee.
The Red Raven’s obvious success is a warm embrace on Fargo’s artistic community.
The Red Raven’s calendar of events, menu items, additional photographs showcasing their new renovations and contact information are located on their website http://www.redravenep.com.
