Reminiscing WE Fest
By Amy Rogne
Come rain or come shine, WE Fest is right around the corner. Take your cowboy boots out of holding. Whether it be whiskey and horses or chaps and spurs, let your country shine glow!
WE Fest tends to gather a crowd of thousands. This multi-fantastic event is fun for many. People gather from all around the world, including Alaska and way down south.
This year’s headliners are Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Clint Black and Sawyer Brown. Not to mention the other performers: Craig Morgan, Kellie Pickler, October Road and 32 Below. As I write this article, I am thinking of the many years I have attended WE Fest. Oh, the memories, how i wish they would fade… not really (but probably would be a good idea).
I remember the weeks and days it took to find a pass and once we did… Lord knows it was the Golden Ticket. Next came the packing and preparing which at times took weeks. The many days I traveled to Target and Walmart are countless: camping supplies here, food and goodies there.
But, only God knows the party started once we got there. It was all about having that first beer and sitting in the sun with my best girl friends. At that point, life outside of Viking didn’t matter. The next step was all about who, what and where. With the countless number of party options and social events, it was hard to stay only at our own campsite. Next thing you know we were dancing, singing and new boot goofin’ at the hottest campsite.
Before festivity anxiety can hit, you are in the middle of the concert bowl enjoying the time of your life. You never know you might even meet your next summer sweetheart? You don’t realize it, but you are swinging and swaying with the person next to you that seems to be the person you thought you’d never connect with. And little did you know, you’re having the time of your life.
Isn’t it funny how country life can be so comfortable? The atmosphere just brings you home. There’s something about the way Tim McGraw serenades the every moment of our summer lives. WE Fest brings out the bitter sweet summer sun that we all dream of all summer long!
So I say, kick up your heels and giddy up!
