Don Kadlec: Not Socialism
Nationalized health care isn’t “socialism”, any more than a garbage-collection program is. Who among us, before this issue was finally addressed, did NOT complain about the rising costs of health insurance, or the quality of coverage? Yet how many are now falling for the tired old fear campaign about “socialism”? Remember the fear campaign about WMD’s?
The next time you’re being robbed, or your home is on fire, better not call the police or the fire departments—that’s socialism. Those departments are financed by the same big, slow, wasteful government those on the right have vilified since the last century. Better call a private contractor instead. Or, stop shouting about “socialism”. You sound ridiculous.
