Donna Chalimonczyk: No More Washington Gridlock
To the Editor:
I feel very disappointed that progress on health care reform has stalled. I hope that this week’s bipartisan summit will rejuvenate progress. With skyrocketing health care and prescription drug costs, our nation must come together to provide meaningful relief to the millions of people who can’t afford their medicine or fall victim to insurance companies abuses like denying affordable care because of their age or medical history. Many seniors in our area are in such need.
We simply cannot let the same old Washington gridlock stand in the way of lowering drug costs for seniors, stopping insurance company abuses, making sure seniors have access to their doctors and protecting guaranteed Medicare benefits.
Now, more than ever, we need leadership from our elected officials. I am counting on them to do the right thing and come together to keep their promises and make sure older Americans and their families get the care and medications they need.
