N. Richards: Seamless Access

To the Editor:

The Secretary of State’s office should be a resource for small business and residents of the state.

Right now it is an outdated office that has more bureaucracy than benefit. I can’t remember the last time a true innovation came from the Secretary of State, and I’m sure most North Dakotans don’t either.

If you for the life of you can’t think of what the Secretary of State does, then it’s time for a new Secretary of State.

Rep. Corey Mock announced his candidacy with the promise of modernizing an outdated agency. I find his tone promising – North Dakotans have too many obstacles between them and their government. We have tried the old methods too many times, I believe we embrace the 21st century and give every resident seamless access to their elected officials and make it simpler or businesses and organizations to operate in our state.

I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that it is time that we have new blood in the capitol that is committed to improving North Dakota’s state government. Corey Mock has the enthusiasm and commitment to make that happen, and I look forward to him becoming our next Secretary of State.
