The Moment You Know

When your soul speaks to you, how do you know?  What does it sound like?  What does it feel like?

There’s really nothing I can say to prepare you for what it’s like. It is a personal experience for each of us. But I can tell you that when you know, you know. There’s a permeating sense of recognition and connection that moves through you. Doubt diminishes and truth rises up to greet you. Your soul is always speaking to you. Always. Are you paying attention?

I departed Fargo last Friday evening with excitement about what the weekend was going to bring.  I had packed up the car with my two traveling buddies, Bud and Benny, our black labs, and a tank full of gas. I was off, headed south on I-29.

The sun was setting over the prairie. Delicate clouds swirled through the painted sky rich in hues of pink, purple and orange. It was beautiful. Breathtaking, really.

I don’t have a habit of looking at the mile markers, but for some reason during this trip as I drove my eyes kept looking at them. At first I noticed them every few miles, but as I continued further and further down the road I began to look more frequently. I remember seeing mile markers 8, 7 and 6… a rush of excitement run through me. Markers 5 and 4 came and went… I felt a sense of openness and anticipation.

3…2…1…. and I crossed the border into South Dakota.

The moment I physically crossed that border I began to spontaneously cry tears of joy. I felt home. Prior to this very moment I had been to South Dakota maybe one or two times and I had never been to Sioux Falls, my final destination. Emotions and memories flowed freely through me. As tears streamed down my face, images flashed in my mind of a beautiful Native American woman. I could sense that she had some sort of importance and that she was gifted in healing. I could see her wearing a beautiful dress, she had long dark hair pulled back into a braid with a single white feather sticking out the back. When I noticed her feather, I heard from within that her name was White Feather. There was more to her name… I couldn’t quite hear it, but I knew there was another word before White Feather. I played around….Grandmother? Sister?  Nothing felt right.

I felt connected to this woman. I could feel her. I could see her. It was like she was me, a part of me, a piece of my past.

I felt somehow that where I was headed was home, and that’s exactly what it is, my new home.

In just a couple weeks, I will be leaving Fargo-Moorhead and settling into Sioux Falls, SD. My husband recently accepted a promotion there, so we are packing our things and heading to a place that, although foreign to this life, is not foreign to our souls.

The two days we spent there were great, everything flowed just like it had all been laid out for us.

I arrived home Sunday night after a busy, fulfilling weekend ready to get a head start on some of the work that needed to be done for the week ahead. As I started to write, I remembered the vision of White Feather and my emotional connection to her. I decided to try an Internet search on her name and the Sioux tribe to see what I could find. On my second search, right at the top of the page was a link to an obituary for a woman named Princess White Feather. The word that I sensed was missing was Princess.  Princess White Feather.

I clicked on the link, read it and found out that Princess White Feather was a member of the Quinabella Sioux Indian tribe of South Dakota. She passed away in 1939.

I feel in my soul that the spirit from the past of Princess White Feather is guiding my life today. She wanted to go home, and so she is.

Experiences like these might seem rare, but they are actually happening to each of us more than we realize. The emotional reactions, positive or not so positive, are often times our soul speaking to us giving us clues to the connections we have.

Messages and guidance from our soul comes in many forms: intuition, synchronises, images and feelings. Your soul will never steer you in the wrong direction, it always knows the truth, and it is through your soul that you have the strongest connection to your most authentic self. The answers to your deepest questions, truth about who you are and why you are here and deeper connections to God and source energy all lie in the depths of your soul. In truth, you are not your body, emotions or thoughts, but you are your soul.

As an intuitive, I go beyond the physical and tune into energy, more specifically to your soul’s energy where I receive information as to what you need to know in order to move forward and create a more fulfilling, balanced life. The experience I had with Princess White Feather is just an example of how I experience our soul’s memories. This situation was one of my own – I saw it, felt it, and knew that my soul was being guided in the most perfect direction, my soul was headed “home,” and I couldn’t be happier. When I tune into you, I experience it much of the same way, through images, feelings and a strong “knowingness.”

I believe we all have the capacity to listen to the message of our soul, but sometimes the clutter of life keeps us from hearing the messages.
