Do you know anything about energy healing? I’ve heard about it from a few people lately, but I’m not sure what it is or how it works. Is this something you have any expertise in?
Yes, I do know about energy healing and I have to say right off the bat that I love it! Energy healing is a natural and holistic healing technique using positive energy frequencies to remove negative energy frequencies from the client’s energy body. There are many different types of energy healing; the one I am most familiar with is Reiki. I am a Reiki Master and have been working with Reiki conducting healings for a little over two years.
Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that is used to aid the body, mind and soul in relaxation and stress reduction. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei meaning “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which means “life force energy.” So, Reiki means spiritually guided life force energy.
Anyone can become a channel for Reiki. You don’t have to be spiritual, “pure” or deemed a healer to be attuned to it. To become a Reiki practitioner, a Reiki master transfers the ability to you through an energetic attunement. The ancient Japanese Reiki symbols are passed on from teacher to student. When this happens, the student’s energy field goes through a 21-day cleanse (at least, sometimes longer) releasing anything that is keeping them back from effectively tapping into the unlimited supply of life force energy, and being a clear and affective channel.
There are multiple attunement levels which depend on your teacher and their teaching preferences. My teacher had 3 levels: Reiki I, Reiki II, and then Reiki Master. Anyone attuned at Reiki level II or higher can professionally administer treatments.
Reiki is administered to the client through “laying of the hands,” which means that the Reiki energy is channeled through the practitioner’s hands and then passed into you. Your practitioner might hover their hands above your body or gently place their hands on you depending on the preference of both you and the practitioner.
When I administer a treatment, I always begin by clearing out the aura and cutting any energy chords. The client is lying on a massage table, relaxing music is playing, lights are low and therapeutic essential oils are used to assist in the energy work. I start by laying my hands on the shoulders, ears, top of the head and then work my way around the body placing my hands on major areas, such as arms, knees, ankles, hips and so on. To treat chakras, which are energy centers located along the spine, I hover my hands above the client’s body. Although, I do work around the entire body, Reiki will always go where it needs to go. If my hands are on your ears, but your knee needs the healing, the energy will naturally go to your knee. Reiki is an intelligent life force of its own. It will go to where it needs to go, balancing and healing what is for the highest good of the client. No harm can ever be done with Reiki. It will always bring positive effects. It cannot be used for evil or harmful intentions.
Reiki, and most all energy healing, works with the whole person. Healing occurs in body, mind, emotions and spirit. Most people report feeling deeply relaxed after a treatment. The client can often feel the energy travel, pulse, vibrate and rock through their body and energy system. I’ve had clients come to me for numerous reasons: pain reduction, emotional issues, self-improvement, stress, fertility difficulties, spirituality, life path issues and more. Reiki is known to bring positive results to all types of situations, illness and difficulties.
How does Reiki work?
We are all alive because we have life force energy flowing within us throughout our body and externally through our aura. This life force energy is what keeps us alive and healthy. When this life force energy is disrupted by negative energy that we either consciously or subconsciously cling to, it causes a lack of life force energy flow decreasing vital functioning, balance and harmony. Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field and brings in a large amount of positive energy that clears and breaks apart all negative energies that are attached. As the negative energies clear, Reiki naturally clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and balanced way.
Personally and professionally, I can’t say enough about the positive effects of Reiki. If you’re at all curious, I offer up the suggestion that you listen to that curiosity and give Reiki a try, that little nudge just might be your soul speaking to you. There’s a reason you picked up this paper and read this article. Reiki, or any type of energy healing was meant to be introduced to your to your life today. There are many practitioners in the area. You will be guided to the one that is meant for you.
