There’s never been a more exciting year for Americans to celebrate LGBT pride than 2015. This Thursday to Sunday the excitement is taking over Fargo-Moorhead. Events include karaoke and trivia on Thursday, a dance party on Friday, a 5K, block and park parties on Saturday and a parade, rally and interfaith service on Sunday. All are welcome to these events. Booker T. Jones, an American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, record producer and arranger, has been a major influence to modern soul music and is largely responsible for its rise in popularity. With hits such as “Green Onions,” “Time is Tight” and “Melting Pot,” he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Musicians Hall of Fame and is a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner. Jones will also return to Stax Records with his new album “Sound the Alarm” as another bold step in his career. HPR editor Diane Miller will perform as Zac De La Rocha with local band O’fosho this Saturday at The Aquarium. D Mills and The Thrills and O’fosho will also perform sets of original music at 11 p.m. and 10 p.m., respectively. “Rage” will start at about midnight and include songs like “Killing in the Name” and “Calm Like A Bomb.” Tickets are $10 and available at Orange Record or ticketweb.com.
100 Person Ride

Jump on your bike and don’t forget your helmet for the 100 Person Ride. With an average ride of 15 to 25 miles at a 14 to 18-mph pace, the ride will combine socializing, exercising and fun. The route will offer a regroup point and post ride refreshments will be served. If it rains the day of the ride, the event date will change to Aug. 25.
Symphony Rocks

The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony will once again join the 12-piece Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome to put on an amazing Symphony Rocks concert. Music will include Stravinsky’s “Firebird,” funk classics by Earth Wind & Fire, as well as contemporary tunes like Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk.” There will also be a 21+ pre-concert party at 5:30 p.m. with food, beverages and games.
