Citizens will rally in support of democracy and civil libraries in Minot on April 19 from 3-5 p.m. The event will begin at Minot City Hall (10 3rd Ave. S.W.) and participants will walk toward Broadway. Protests will also be held in Grand Forks and Fargo on the same day.
The Minot event is part of the 50501 Movement's National Day of Action on April 19, which seeks to build community and speak out against the Trump administration’s policies. The 50501 Movement is a grassroots coalition that stands for 50 states, 50 protests, one movement/one day. It aims to “uphold the Constitution and end executive overreach” according to its website, fiftyfifty.one.
Previous 50501 events include the Hands Off! Protests on April 5, 2025, which drew millions of supporters to events throughout the country, including several in North Dakota and western Minnesota. The movement is non-violent and organized by local volunteers.
