By Alicia Underlee Nelson

Protests against President Trump’s policies and the cuts made by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) are planned across North Dakota and western Minnesota Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5. They include events in Fargo-Moorhead, Grand Forks-East Grand Forks, Valley City, Jamestown, Minot and Bismarck. These regional protests are part of a much larger grassroots campaign.

Over 1,000 protests have been confirmed by organizers of the nationwide Hands Off! movement, which is coordinating the weekend's events. The movement is a partnership between local, regional and national organizations, including the League of League of Women Voters and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The April 5 event is predicted to be the largest nationwide protest against Trump’s policies so far this year. Events, including marches and rallies, will be held in all 50 states.

Events in North Dakota and selected western Minnesota communities are organized by local volunteers and organizations, including residents and groups who have participated in previous protests across the region. Confirmed protests in North Dakota and western Minnesota are listed below.

Friday, April 4

Valley City: 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the Post Office

Participants are advised to bring family-friendly signs and to practice nonviolence in accordance with the movement’s standards. Find a list of confirmed events at https://www.mobilize.us/handsoff/
