Final performance this Friday by Fargo-Moorhead boy band

By Jay Rice

If you haven't heard the most amazing group to spring from the loins of Fargo-Moorhead's music scene, then you haven't heard the boy band KumNcyde.

What you need to know is they are having their last performance ever at The Aquarium this Valentine's Day. Doors open at 10 p.m., and KumNcyde are set to begin at 10:30 p.m. Tickets are already on sale at Orange Records and online at ticketweb.com. Get yours and do not miss out on this last performance of these titans of male machismo.

HPR: When tasked with interviewing the most popular boy band in local US history, where do you start?

D'eriq: Well … you could start by asking us, “What has caused KumNcyde to decide to hang up their sunglasses?”

HPR: So D’eriq, I hear this Valentine’s Day will be the very last performance of KumNcyde… ever. What has caused KumNcyde to decide to hang up their sunglasses?

D'eriq: Great question! Just life, man. We're all busy dudes with a lot of irons in the fire. Chazz has 13 kids, with 3 on the way. With being in the public eye, it’s hard for him to focus on hiding from their mothers. CJ needs to focus on his rehab. AJ has been putting a lot of time into learning how to ride his bike. He's got this sweet Huffy, little colored beads in the spokes and everything. When he leaves the end of the driveway without training wheels, that's gonna be a big moment for us all. I've been getting into building those ships in a bottle. I've got my first ship built; I just haven't figured out how to build the bottle yet.

HPR: I know all of the Kummybears (KumNcyde fans) are in agony about this final performance. Any words of solace for them?

D'eriq: We’ve been happy to have them, and I hope they've been happy to have us. We're just glad that we get to come back one last time and give them what they want. This last show almost didn't happen, so we hope the Kummies will focus on that. We're gonna leave it all on stage at this final show!

HPR: This show is called Love Unprotected. What is going to protect you from the anger of your fans about the end of the band?

D'eriq: We don't expect anger. There will be tears. There will be wailing and groaning and moaning. Probably quite a lot of moaning, really.

HPR: Any solo acts ready to break out?

D'eriq: That's another answer for the show. We have some surprises in store, so you’ll definitely want to “Kum” out.

HPR: I have to ask because it is on everyone's mind and tongue tips: What happened to K(r)ISS?

D'eriq: K(r)ISS is in a good place, man. We keep in touch. He's got a lot of good things happening. He's even talked about coming out to support his old bandmates, but I guess we'll see. Maybe we'll try to get him on stage for one last number.
