Trap music uses contrasting synthesizers, “cinematic” strings, pitched-down vocals, and especially its engine, the Roland 808 drum machine. Ominous bleak and gritty lyrics about street life, poverty, and violence in the inner city -- the “trap.” A great show, but u gotta be in the mood. 21+, $8 advance, $13 door.

The storytelling choreography of the ballet connects us to a time and land long passed away. Nimuu is the name given to the remains of a woman found during the construction of Highway 59. Marcella Rose will speak about her personal discovery of Nimuu and the process of creating the bronze statue of her.
