Shown last year before a screening of “Star Wars Holiday Special,” “Holiday Fruitcake Mini-Fest” is a short compilation of weird and disturbing clips of holiday specials, cartoons and Christmas movie trailers. After the screening, musician Michael Pink is set to hit the stage, playing his blend of pop rock and alternative country.

Holiday classic “The Nutcracker” will be performed by the Fargo-Moorhead Ballet as part of their annual tradition. The ballet will feature original choreography by Artistic Director Matt Gasper and live music by Wonderland Orchestra, directed by Christina Yi-Ping Chen-Beyers. Your favorite holiday tunes will be played on the mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ on several days leading right up to Christmas. The shows are free and open to the public and will give audience members the chance to donate non-perishables to the food bank.

Sara Pajunen is a Minneapolis-based Finnish American violinist, and is drawn to immigration stories. She knows the story all too well of leaving the familiar for the unknown. For her performance she will combine spoken word and new technology, with her own music.

Under direction of Angel Lira, Fargo-Moorhead Gay Men’s Chorus will perform their second Christmas show, singing a wide range of holiday music. In addition to old favorites, they will perform the complete collection of Dan Forrest arrangements of holiday music for men’s choir.

The event will feature live music and gingerbread house making. It will operate on a “pay as you wish” donation model with proceeds going to the artist and Make Room. Westerholm is a self-taught pianist and composer, who has been playing the Fargo-Moorhead area for five years. She’s opened for Rogue Valley and Caroline Smith and was the 2014 recipient for the “Celebration of Women and Their Music” award.

The classic film will be shown just in time for Christmas. The Frank Capra drama stars James Stewart as George Bailey, a man who has given up on life until an angel intervenes and seeks to show Stewart how many lives he’s touched and how different his community would be if he was never born. Since its release in 1946, the film has become a Christmas staple.
