This Saturday, Homeward Animal Shelter will be teaming up with Prairie Brothers Brewing Company for Biscuits & Brews, a fundraiser and meet-and-greet for adoptable dogs. One dollar from every pint of craft beer will be donated to the shelter, while the dogs get some much-needed exposure that will increase their chances of finding their forever homes.
The dogs currently at the shelter include Declan, a mix of Labrador retriever, Australian cattle dog, and blue heeler; and Brahms, a mix of…

In the wake of their 63-city Blackheart Burlesque Tour. We had the opportunity to chat with Selena Mooney aka Missy Suicide, founder of the alternative modeling site Suicide Girls established in 2001. We had a chance to chat about the tour, body mod culture, feminism and the power of cosplay.

Transgender Cultural Competency Training (TCCT) is a training I give to organizations that involves education around the basics of gender, what being transgender is, the problems transgender individuals face within a given organization, and tools that organizations can use to better interact with the transgender community.
It’s similar to safe zone training, but instead of focusing on people being allies, it focuses on effective tools any organization can benefit from and use,…

How long have you had your computer monitor? Is it time to get a new one? How do you know if it is time to get a new one?
Many people got their monitor bundled with their computer. I don’t have too much to complain about if that is the way it happened with you. However, there is a better solution.
My big problem when using my computer is resolution. This is the number of pixels a monitor can display, both horizontally and vertically. For example, a monitor with a 1,920-by-1,080…

The program is undergoing a brief hiatus, while it seeks a new co-host, but old episodes can be viewed at http://kpppfm.com/finding-me/.
High Plains Reader: What is “Finding Me”?
Nemo Siqueiros: “Finding Me” helps to continue the mission of…

When Donald Trump won the presidential election last year, with Mike Pence as his running mate, there was a cry of despair from the LGBTQ+ community. It was hard to use Facebook for weeks after, because of the outpour of anger, pain, confusion, and terror LGBTQ+ community members shared.
In response to this outpouring, people claimed that Donald Trump was either an ally to LGBTQ+ people or that he didn’t care about the demographic enough to target it. But ultimately, it was all…

Ad Litteram is a new podcast series on words brought to you by HPR. What better way to begin a series on words than with the first human word?
The episode begins with the story of Joe Medicine Crow, a member of the Crow tribe of Montana. Joe was the first Crow to attend college, earning a master’s degree in anthropology in 1939. And while working on his doctorate a few years later, World War Two broke out.
Joe joined the army and fought with the 103rd Infantry Division. While in…
By Josette Ciceronunapologeticallyanxiousme@gmail.com What does it mean to truly live in a community —or should I say, among community? It’s a question I have been wrestling with since I moved to Fargo-Moorhead in February 2022.…
