Diamond in the Ruff Benefit Event

Culture | May 4th, 2016

Next Saturday, Diamond in the Ruff Pet Rescue will be holding a silent auction and raffle at the West Fargo Fairgrounds, in a family-friendly event complete with a bouncy castle for children to play in. The only price of admission is a free-will donation, with proceeds going toward the organization’s animal welfare services.

“The raised money will be used to help cover our day-to-day expenses,” says Director Robert Ross. “This includes health checks, vet bills, and training for the animals. Funds will also be put towards the creation of learning materials that are utilized at our events to help educate the public.”

The event will include music courtesy of Rev It Up DJ, beverages courtesy of Town Hall and Ace Liquors, and free food, including a taco bar and a bake sale. Photos of adoptable animals will be on display, all of them vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered, and eager to go to new homes.

There will be a wide range of door prizes, raffle items, and auction items available to win. Participants will need to be present to take them home.

“We have over 150 silent auction baskets to be auctioned off from individuals and businesses all over the region,” says Ross. “Some items include a UND quilt, a wine rack, dog-and-cat canvas artwork by Dean Russo, and much more.”

Raffle items will include two Garth Brooks tickets for the FargoDome concert on May 8th, four one-day park-hopper tickets to Disney World, an NDSU Bison quilt, and a Bluetooth wireless speaker. Door prizes will include gift certificates for local businesses, which can be won through pre-registration on Diamond in the Ruff’s Facebook page.

Diamond in the Ruff is a volunteer-run, nonprofit animal rescue with a focus on rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of homeless animals, all made possible by community donations and an extensive foster home network. They also educate the public on animal healthcare, breed discrimination, and the importance of spaying and neutering to curb overpopulation.

Last year was their first silent auction and raffle, which was held in the same building at the fairgrounds.

“We had our first silent auction at the Hartl Ag building last spring and loved the facility,” Ross explains. “They are great to work with, and it was a nice-sized venue to support the number of people that attend.”
