99 Bottles expands its location

Beer Snob | April 23rd, 2015

By Krissy Ness

April 30 is going to be a good day for the beer and wine community.

99 Bottles will unveil a new addition to its 100-year-old liquor store with two times more square footage for beer and almost double the amount of space for its wine selection.

In addition to more storage and coolers for its vast collection of liquor, wine and beer, 99 Bottles will also add a 20-person tasting bar, new selection of barware and monthly wine and beer classes.

On top of its wine tasting, which is held monthly every third Thursday, the store has been bringing in Jean Taylor, a certified sommelier, to teach classes in wine expertise every second Thursday of each month. Additionally, mixology and beer classes will begin sometime in late summer or early fall.

Last year 99 Bottles introduced Beer School, in which sales associates were able to earn their Cicerone beer server certification (similar to a sommelier but geared toward beer).

The event on Thursday goes from 4 to 8 p.m., and there will be free wine and beer tastings between 5 to 8 p.m. There will be over 50 products to try and 99 prizes up for grabs: including Taylor Swift tickets, Luke Bryan tickets, gas, food, and a lodging trip to Duluth, Minn. for the All Pints North Beer Festival.
