Boulder Tap House

Beer Snob | January 29th, 2016

Krissy Ness

The Boulder Tap House has been open in Moorhead for a couple of months now and boy do they have beer. Not only do they have 50 beers on tap, but also an excessive amount of beer in cans and bottles, full bar, and house wines. If you are looking for a “local beer” including beer from all over Minnesota, this is the place to be.

General Manager Matthew Johnson declared, “We want to keep our line up as close as possible, location wise.” “We also have 10% of our tap lineup reserved for seasonal beer.” Not to mention you can bring your kids in at anytime, so you can watch the big game and bring the kiddos with for snacks and root beer.

Not only are they crazy about beer, liquor, and wine; they have amazing food and appetizer specials. Everyday from 9-11pm they have $3.99 6-piece wings and $3.50 22 oz. domestic taps, and from 9-close they have $1 off taps and rail drinks, (Mon-Fri 3-6 $1 off tap rails and $2 off rail drinks).

As if that wasn’t good enough they have a full section of the restaurant blocked off for games. There are pool tables, ping-pong tables, dartboards, shuffleboard, and arcade games.

Their tap line up is ever-changing, although they keep specific domestic beers, ciders, and intro beers such as Surly Hell, Kona Longboard Island Lager, and Fulton Lonely Blonde – to name a few.

The top sellers of this bar are no surprise to local Minnesota drinkers, Surly takes the cake for most-sold beer, but don’t fret North Dakota, because Drekker Brewing Co., from right here in Fargo is on Surly’s coat tail for most-sold beer at Boulder Tap House. Fargo Brewing Company’s Stone’s Throw and Roustabout are also high sellers, so as you can see, local beer is always in style.

Boulder Tap House was once the home of Grizzlies, next to Target on Highway 10, and the owners are in fact the same. “We are moving forward with a new concept, and new management team,” says General Manager Matthew Johnson. “Service can either sink or sustain your business.”

In this “upscale sports bar” you can belly up to the bar (where you can charge your phone at the bar, at one of their three charging stations) or you can grab a booth or high-top table. The same people who own 7 West in Duluth and St. Cloud, Minnesota own Boulder Tap House. There are 7 locations between the two restaurants.

Keep your date book clear on the 4th of February, where Boulder Tap House will be having a Founders Tap Takeover, which will include - Azacca IPA, Backwoods Bastard, Breakfast Stout, and the Red’s Rye Pale Ale.

Cheers!
