Meat Sweats at Fargo Brewing Co.

Fargo Brewing Company had yet another celebration for the people who sell and distribute their beer in late March.

“Meat Sweats,” properly named for the massive amounts of grilled and smoked meat, so much so that it induced sweating, was an opportunity to thank the restaurant and bar community and beyond for the great support of locally brewed beer and their great success.

I had a wonderful time people watching, enjoying a pint and catching up with new and old friends about life and, of course, beer. This is an extremely generous event that Fargo Brewing Co. has held in the past, and it just goes to show the appreciation and heart that the people behind Fargo Brewing Co. have for supporters of their product.

Fargo’s finest servers, bartenders and distributors came out to Fargo Brewing Co. to partake in bag toss, hammerschlagen and ample amounts of free beer, and as I mentioned earlier, so much meat. It was a pleasure to be able to partake in this event for another year. Not only did Fargo Brewing Co. have over five beers on tap, but they were also pouring from two casks. (Cask ales are unfiltered and unpasteurized beer brewed from only traditional ingredients and allowed to mature naturally.)

I was able to get my hands on the Iron Horse with Citra hops. The Citra Hops really gave this pale ale an extra hop kick, although there is no reason to mess with the recipe; Men’s Journal declared, “the Iron Horse Pale Ale is one of the best 101 beers in America.” However, it was nice to see a new surprise to a staple beer.

The vibe in Fargo Brewing Co. was ecstatic. Many people were there having a good time, sharing a pint of beer and relating to one another on a level of appreciation for locally brewed beer and the food and bar industry we work in. It was a great evening to be a server in Fargo, North Dakota. So often the stigma around food and bar industry workers is negative, and it was a real treat to feel the gratitude of one individual company praising the people who help make their beer a successful endeavor.

Every Fargo Brewing Company employee I talked to was more than excited to be there pouring beer, giving beer tours and just having a conversation about life in the brewery. This is my second time attending this event and they topped themselves this year. I cannot wait to see what is in store for next year.
