Coming back for its third year to support local upcoming performing artists, the third Annual Holiday showcase begins 6:30pm Tuesday, December 29th at The Stage at Island Park. This year’s performances will be hosted by musicians Peggy Bartunek and Nita Velo and will showcase winners of the Celebrating Women and Their Music award spanning the last decade.

The Celebrating Women and Their Music show was founded in 1998 by renowned blue singer, chef, and caterer, Deborah Jenkins. The show recognizes the creative passion and pursuits of local women in the performing arts. Open to young women in the area, Celebrating Women and Their Music has given awards to a variety of talented musicians, artists and dancers in a diverse range of genres from classical to pop to jazz. The non-profit show is an excellent opportunity for contestants to network and receive mentoring and promotion. High school senior contestants are also eligible for a scholarship with the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation.

The Annual Holiday showcase will feature performances by previous award winners Zoe Adank, majoring in English at Minnesota State University Moorhead; Nicole Craft, dance and choreography instructor in Los Angeles; Kelsey Schroeder, freelance artist in Fargo; Jenny Sun, majoring in music and pre-medicine at University of Rochester, NY; Nina Grollman, majoring in acting at Julliard; Hannah Westerholm, singer and songwriter in Fargo; and Natalie Shaw who is majoring in theater arts and psychology at University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.

This will be another venue for the award winners as they return home for the holidays and helps ensure the main show and scholarship in February is even better. Having run the award and show for 19 years, Deborah explains, “We could not be any happier and proud to know that these young women are willing to give some with Their family time to give back for this non-profit fundraiser for not only the community, but also to us at Celebration. It is truly “Their” show, sort of a mini Celebration of Women even. I would love to see everyone support the main event on February 20th at the Historic Fargo Theater.”

Tickets for the Annual Holiday showcase can be bought showcase’s website, celebrationholidayshowcse.bpt.me, for $15 in advanced. At the door tickets will be $18. All money raised will be going to the 19th annual Celebrating Women and Their Music show in February.
