Press release

“Shakespeare with a sharpened edge.”

To launch its 2025 – 2026 season, Theatre NDSU is thrilled to team up with Moorhead-based organization Theatre B to perform a co-production of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” starting Thursday, Oct. 16. Featuring actors from NDSU and Theatre B, this version of “Romeo and Juliet” is a modern adaptation by Theatre B’s artistic director, Jon Micheels Leiseth, set in an imagined world where styles from the Italian Renaissance meet those of 1940’s Italy. Amid sumptuous danger of a totalitarian regime, the “star-crossed lovers” attempt to bridge the boundaries that the authorities and their families have set to keep them apart, with plenty of twists along the way.

The first run of “Romeo and Juliet” will be at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16 – 18 in NDSU’s Walsh Studio Theatre, located in the northwest corner of Askanase Hall (1497 12th Ave. N. in Fargo). The production then moves to Theatre B (215 10th St. N. in Moorhead) for the remaining performances at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 – 25, 29 – 31, and Nov. 1. The matinee will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26.

To purchase tickets for the NDSU shows, please visit ndsu.showare.comor call the box office at 701-231-7969. NDSU students get in free, but only to the performances on campus.
