Joel Hegerle Artist Reception

Fargo resident Joel Hegerle will present his artwork at the Hotel Donaldson Restaurant. Hegerle, who’s worked as a neon artist and spent 22 years in the printing industry, says the goal of his work is to make the people smile or laugh. The reception will have art for sale and offer refreshments.

The four-piece psychedelic rock band from Norman, Okla., released their first album, “The Birth,” on Warner Bros. Records in 2009. They’ve toured with Band of Horses, Tame Impala and The Flaming Lips, collaborating with the latter on a studio recording where they covered Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” in its’ entirety. The band released their latest album “Wastoid” this summer.

Sha Cage Presents “U/G/L/Y”

Guthrie Theater actor Sha Cage will present her show “U/G/L/Y,” which aims to challenge beauty stereotypes as it examines cultural, generational and personal definitions of beauty. The show sees Cage acting out various characters through lyrical storytelling under personal and pop culture lenses while incorporating movement, video and music by violinist Kate Pehrson.

The second monthly swing dancing event will be held on the second floor of Ecce Art Gallery with a lesson taught by Mr. Johnny Fargo (John Noone) right at 7 p.m. The event is an open dance, welcoming people to ask others to dance with them. The organizers ask that no one wears shoes, such as high heels, that could damage the hardwood floors of Ecce.
