Tod Browning’s 1927 silent horror film “The Unknown” sees Lon Chaney playing Alonzo the Armless, a fugitive disguised as an armless knife thrower at a circus. His disfigurement brings him closer to the ringmaster’s daughter Nanon, played by Joan Crawford. When competition for Nanon arises, Alonzo will do whatever it takes to win.

After outgrowing their usual space at the Howard Johnson Inn, the Fargo Record Fair has now moved onto the Fargo Brewing Company where they promise more vendors and more records at a location that’s welcome to all ages.

Level 2 Comedy Club will see Grand Forks based comedian Spencer Dobson returning to Fargo and opening for Detroit comedian Mike Stanley. The comedians will perform once at 7 p.m. and a second time at 9:30 p.m. on both dates.

The event features live performances by the Fargo Theatre Big Band All-stars and Singers, directed by Dr. David Ferriera. The event will also show the 1926 film “Sparrows,” which finds Mary Pickford starring as the eldest child at a baby farm in an alligator-filled swamp.

Terry Hinnenkamp and Jill Kandel discuss their books “Ghosts of North Dakota” and “From the Trails of Africa: Six Years in a Zimbabwe Village” in the Community Room at the Fargo Public Library. The event includes book signings, refreshments and door prizes.

Southern rap group Nappy Roots around since the late 1990s will be warming up the Aquarium this fall evening. Best known for tracks like “Po’ Folks” and “Awnaw”, Nappy Roots saw their biggest success in the early 2000s but have managed to stick around all these years later. The Plains Art Museum has once again brought the Walker Art Center’s mucho popular Internet Cat Video Festival to Fargo for two showings (warning last year sold out). This video collects the most popular viral cat videos (over 100 of them) from around the internet and puts them all together in one handy showing. Cat freaks will be in ecstasy.
