On June 4, 1919, the U.S. Senate passed the 19th Amendment and sent it to the states for ratification. Celebrate the centennial with free ice cream, beer, champagne, games, house tours, and a 6:00pm ceremony.
HCSCC Executive Director Maureen Kelly Jonason will open the ceremony with a reading of local suffragist Clara Dillon Darrow's speech, "I Want a Vote." Vice President of the League of Women Voters of the Red River Valley Ashley Ladbury Hrichena follows with a brief history of the League's formation. MSUM sociology professor, Moorhead city councilwoman, and NEW Leadership Northern Lights coordinator Dr. Deborah White will deliver the keynote speech.
