To showcase the rich Native American culture of the many tribes in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota, community leaders have organized the first contest powwow. As many as 1,000 dancers are expected to perform over this three-day event that will not only promote cultural awareness, but give the public a chance to see and hear different styles of music and dance from the region’s many tribes.
