Fargo-Moorhead Comic-Con

Culture | February 22nd, 2017

It would be hard to meet a hero or heroine in your lifetime because they are too busy trying to save the world. But, this time all the heroes and heroines are coming to Fargo-Moorhead to save us from boredom!

Hulk, Superman, Thor, Batman, Captain America, Superwoman, and whomever you expect will be gathered at one spot. The celebration of comics and popular culture, Fargo-Moorhead Comic-Con 6 (FMCC), is here with a variety of excitement in all media, print, film, games, toys, and art for 2 days at Baymont Inn & Suites, Fargo, N.D. on February 25 and 26. The FMCC 7 is at the same place as well.

The event features Erik Burnham, Marvel Comics writer and artist, Joel “Mojo” Moen, DC/Marvel Comic creator, Noel “Scotch” Anderson, national and local comic creator, and other local and regional comic creators.

Erik Burnham is a cartoonist and writer of IDW’s Galaxy Quest, Back to the Future, Scarlet Spider, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Ghostbusters. Mojo has worked as an assistant inker for DC and Marvel and notably for Dead Dog Comics as an editor, writer, and inker. Noel has drawn comics for Cracked magazine and Hustler Humor and he publishes his own line of comics.

For your interest, there will be local and regional vendors of all kinds of comics and assorted memorabilia, and a variety of items like jewelry and other trinkets. Not only comics, but video tournaments and casual games are waiting for us and this event will also feature an assortment of panels, films, workshops, videos and a costume contest for kids at 2 pm on Saturday, February 25th. And for adults, a party at 7:30pm on the same day.

Panels include a look at comics’ phenomena of today, knowhow for how to get into comics as an artist or writer, an artist workshop with Erick Burnham and upcoming diverse films and tv shows. FMCC welcomes all ages, with fun activities and programs that are for all comic lovers during the day. This family-friendly event will bring you joy and extra fun at night!

FMCC is presented by ValleyCon, Red River Science Fiction & Fantasy, a non-profit of Minnesota, Moorhead Community Access Media and Dragon’s Den comics (MSUM). ValleyCon has been making use of popular culture to promote literacy and generate funding for other non-profit areas for over 30 years. All charitable donations are contributed to EXTRALIFE benefitting Sanford Children’s Hospital, and it stays 100% locally.

FMCC goes from 10 am to 5 pm and comes back at 7 pm until late night on Saturday, February 25th. It also re-opens at 10 am and goes to 4 pm on Sunday, February 26th.
