Rape and Abuse Crisis Center and programs combine, rebrand as Sollera

News | May 26th, 2026

By Dr Christopher Johnson, Chief Executive Officer, Sollera

For nearly fifty years, this region has known us as Rape and Abuse Crisis Center.

We have answered late-night calls. Sat in hospital rooms. Walked with victim survivors through courtrooms. Supported families navigating safe parenting time. Educated classrooms. Listened.

And we are still here.

We are now known as Sollera.

When organizations change their name, people often assume something big or disruptive must have happened, a merger, a crisis, becoming something entirely new.

That isn’t our story.

Our story is quieter. And it begins with listening.

Over the years, we’ve heard something from victim-survivors we could not ignore.

Some told us they weren’t sure they “qualified” for our services.

Because they weren’t sexually assaulted in the way they thought counted.

Because it happened years ago.

Because they didn’t report.

Because they were unsure how to define what happened.

Because they did not see their experiences in the words of our name, our name unintentionally created a question where there should have been clarity.

Support should never require someone to label their experience perfectly. Healing should not depend on whether someone uses the “right” word.

So we listened.

Sollera reflects the full scope of who we are and who we serve. We support victim-survivors of domestic and sexual violence, in all the ways those experiences show up.

We provide confidential advocacy. Prevention education. Safe parenting time. Ongoing therapy- available whenever someone is ready for it. We walk alongside individuals and families at many different stages of their journey.

Our new name is not a departure from our history. It is a clearer reflection of it.

On June 1, we will move into a new space built with victim-survivors in mind — welcoming, private, grounded.

Later this summer, all of our programs, including the Parenting Time Center (formerly Rainbow Bridge), will come together under one roof.

But even in a new building, the heart of our work stays the same.

If you or someone you love needs support, we are here.

You do not need to decide if it was “bad enough.”

You do not need to have the right language.

You do not need to be certain.

You can simply reach out.

We are here when you’re ready.
