Evansville Arts Coalition (EAC) will celebrate its birthday with an evening of poetry at Evansville Art Center (111 Main St. in Evansville, Minnesota) on Thursday, April 24 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to all.
The EAC hosted its first Poetry Night in April 1996, shortly after its incorporation as a nonprofit. Except for a pandemic pause in 2020, the event has been held every year since, making it one of longest-running annual literary events in the region.
“People of all ages are welcome,” according to a press release from the EAC. “Readers and writers come from quite a distance to participate, from Morris, Moorhead, Fergus Falls, Long Prairie, and even Park Rapids, and we have had readers from ages 6 to 95. We have had published poets and poetasters alike. All are welcome and enjoy the friendly audience.”
Additional poets are invited to read at the event. The EAC asks participants to pre-register at https://www.evansvilleartcenter.org/blog/lets-celebrate-poetry-month or call 218-948-2288 to leave a message.
