How many cardinals in red look at Michelangelo’s sexy ceiling?

Michelangelo finished painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in 1512. It is examined and admired by millions every year. The first conclave to elect a pope in the chapel took place in 1492, and since 1878, every conclave to elect a new pope has been held in its beautiful confines. He returned in 1536 to paint the altar wall and finished it in 1541. Michelangelo painted his famous Last Judgment, hoping that his homosexual life would be accepted by popes and other church authorities. He had publicly announced his same-sex love for a young nobleman through poetry, drawings, and letters. The side walls of the chapel were painted by other talented Italian painters such as Botticelli.

Michelangelo lived in a time where gays could be burned at the stake for committing sodomy and other “offenses.” His ceiling is filled with nude and hardly clothed muscular men in a variety of positions and poses. Two men are kissing. After his death, church authorities covered many private parts with draperies, some of which survive to this day.

A study of the religious canons, catechisms, writings and sermons of faithful saints and sinners will reveal that the world of sex has bedeviled, Satanized and Lucifered the Roman Catholic Church for two thousand years. Celibacy of priests has only been around for about a thousand years, but the “mortal” sin has already cost the church billions in sex abuse money which will probably cost trillions before a decision is made to have priests, bishops, cardinals, and popes propagate the species. My question is: Why does the Vatican still teach that homosexuals are “intrinsically disordered” if they have studied the sexy detail in the ceiling while pondering the next vote?

Pope Francis spoke millions of words in attempting to jerk and pull the Vatican out of the praying and preying hands of the 265 popes before him, a majority who would be considered conservative today. But his most important words were five he uttered in a response to a question about a gay priest in the LBGTQUIA+ community: “Who am I to judge?”

When will the Vatican recognize that 10% are not “intrinsically disordered?”

The big question is: Will the 267th pope be a conservative like John Paul II who ignored sexual abuse by priests for decades and approved the ultra-right Opus Dei, resulting in retribution payoffs in the billions? Way back in Catholic history, it took three years to select a pope. As the hundred red-garbed old men debate, scratch and gaze with disgust or envy at the ceiling filled with nudes by a gay painter, who will wear the ring crafted for the new pope? Will it be one who will wash the feet of 10% of the population descended from Adam and Eve, one who meets with lesbians (1.4%), bisexuals (5.2%), transgender (1.3%), gay (2%) and at least 70 other identities such as asexuals, pansexuals, and others too numerous to mention (1%)?

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina chose Saint Francis of Assisi as his “pope” name. He was a 13th century person who served the poor and downtrodden. As archbishop of Buenos Aires, Bergoglio washed the feet of AIDS patients, drug dealers and prostitutes, rode the bus to appointments, cooked his own meals and spent most of his time in the slums in the city with thousands of poor citizens.

As pope, he followed the same practices in Rome. Most popes were from rich families and lived “rich.”

Pope Francis declared: “I want a church which is poor and for the poor.” He wore Timex watches, drove a small Ford Focus around Rome instead of being driven in an armored limo and lived in a two-room apartment in a Vatican guesthouse instead of rich quarters in the Apostolic Palace.

Often frustrated by conservative cardinals in the operation and administration of the Vatican, he finally called for a meeting with the bishops from around the world to assist in solving some of the biggest problems facing the church. He presented problems to the bishops — and a few women he appointed — to study, debate and establish new Catholic religious canons before he died. After about three years of “concentrated” study the group decided “not to decide” lifting the “intrinsically disordered” label on homosexuals and what to do about women who have been told to shut up in church and wear suffocating hats.

So here we go again. Remember when the Vatican decided centuries ago that unbaptized babies could not pass through the gates of Heaven, that they had to be restricted to Limbo to circle forever like dust motes in the dark sky? Think about it. In 2,000 years, 266 popes have been elected without one formal female vote.

If God checked us out in the womb, how could he miss 74 genders?

It has come to pass that bloviating pussy-grabber Donald Trump in an executive order and the conservative Catholic Ken Sims of Moorhead in a letter to the editor have decided there are only two genders, Adam of males and Eve of females. The Lyin’ King is not even trusted by an older sister who was a judge, so I will quote Ken from a Forum letter:

“Gender ideology has spread like a virus — demolishing the bedrock of our society — our families. It is horrific because it ultimately leads to self-destruction. God created us either male or female. He did not put anyone in the wrong body! He created us to be different, to be complementary, to procreate and to multiply. We should be celebrating our differences instead of trying to transition them (which is impossible).”

The Bible claims God has observed all of those in the womb who have lived from the seconds of conception. If that is true, why do 20% of the fetuses never breathe fresh air? Why are some fetuses miscarried early and late and others plagued with death-dealing abnormalities which sometimes can be surgically operated on in the womb? The human body is not intelligently designed. Why create life through the same canals we discharge our waste? Why are some born with dangerous syndromes and some of the 870,000 viruses that plague Homo sapiens??”

Population experts have estimated, using birth rates established over the years, that 100 billion Homo sapiens have lived and died on earth. If that is true, that also means that ten billion members of the LBGTQUIA+ community have lived on earth, with one billion of them being transgender people. Besides, genetic scientists have proved that sex is determined by what is between your ears, the brain, not by what is between your legs. That’s why 1% of the population, sometimes as early as age two, want to wear dresses and play with dolls instead of wearing pants and pushing toy trucks.

Males are dismal failures. Why don’t we try females as world leaders?

Catherine the Great and the two Elizabeths were pretty good at it. The females in many species have also been better leaders than males and have taken over herds, tribes, prides and pods. Elephants have decided that females are better leaders and remember where there is food and water. So, females tell the bull elephant to get lost — until they need a mate. The lion king doesn’t help the pride much, depending upon the females to hunt and kill large animals for the pride, while they mosey around to different territories looking for more sex, sometimes killing babies to convince his partner. Polar, black and brown bears are also lousy fathers, spending time chasing females and searching for food.

Male leaders of the world today, and it’s a long list, have often demonstrated incompetence, cruelty and too much testosterone to lead any country that wants to be in the top ten in the UN World Happiness Report. Think Trump, Putin, Netanyahu, Orban, Erdogan, Bolsonaro, and North Korea’s “Great Leader.”

Among our close cousins (apes, chimps, bonobos) only the female bonobos have figured out how to control males. Although the male is much bigger than the female, if a male causes too much trouble, if he oversteps his bounds, so to speak, at minimum three females will chase him up a tree to a shaky branch, scream and yell at him, kick him, and sometimes beat the hell out of him. Such attacks have left males alone and injured for days or weeks. The researchers who have discovered this change of rules, say “The screams are so loud you have to block your ears!”

Over 30 years, more than 1,800 incidents were observed and the females won about 60% of the episodes. Harvard University, the University of California and the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior in Germany have cooperated for the research. Researchers observed bonobos in the Democratic Republic of Congo. A German researcher mused about the results: “I’m still puzzled. We might never know, but it gives me a glimmer of hope that the females of our closest living relatives, in our evolutionary line, teamed up to take the reins of power alongside males.”

Remember: Male apes, the alpha male, is the leader of an ape or gorilla family, and a male chimp is the selected leader of a chimp family. The male human has claimed supremacy since cave dwelling and pyramid building, but lately male power has been waning because of testosterone, irrationality and stupidity. More women than men are attending college and law school, demonstrate better logic and certainly are writing more interesting and thought-provoking opinion essays.

Laura Lewis of the University of California summarizes the research: “This study could provide insight into how women could build power to better protect ourselves from male violence by forming and maintaining coalitions or alliances, with one another, just like our bonobo cousins.” Because of the condition of our world in climate change and human relationships, our females should endorse the research and immediately form alliances or coalitions.

Perhaps Pope Francis had studied the Bonobo research

In the last few months of his life, Pope Francis appointed a woman president of Vatican City. Prior to that appointment, he selected a woman to oversee the Synodality, the three-year meeting of the bishops of the world to study the “reformation” of the Roman Catholic Church. During the Synod on Synodality, for the first time in history, about 50 women were allowed to vote on some issues and became part of the official records. Francis also changed sections of the Code of Canon Law that allow women as lectors (readers of certain texts during mass) and altar servers. He still refused to approve ordination of women and often used outdated language about women.

Is there any cardinal who is as liberal as Francis lurking in the back row in the Sistine Chapel who will smell the white smoke? Chances are slim to none — and Cardinal Slim is out of Rome driving his own Ford.
