UnPillage Happy Hour

Beer Snob | August 26th, 2015

By Krissy Ness

In recent weeks Drekker Brewing Company has been kicking off their UnPillage Program with a special weekly happy hour. From 4-6 p.m. Monday through Friday one dollar from every pint is given to a local charity to help the community, and so far the turnout has been great! About two weeks ago 4 Luv of Dog Rescue brought in volunteers for information about their rescue program. It brought out lovers of dogs and supporters of the cause. It was wonderful to witness strangers and friends get together, raise a pint and talk about the dogs they have rescued, as well as the great things 4 Luv Of Dog Rescueis doing for our community. It is my hope that with community awareness and programs such as this, there will be more rental places in Fargo-Moorhead that will allow people to live happily with their rescue pet.

Last week the UnPillage Program focused on the environment by teaming up with the River Keepers of Fargo. River Keepers is a group that works “hand-in-hand” with civic, corporate and political leaders, local watershed groups and the public at-large. They advocate sustainable use of the Red River of the North through workshops, youth service-learning projects and advocacy. Again, people from all over the Fargo-Moorhead area piled into Drekker Brewing Company to support our community and talk about ways we can keep the Red River clean and functional. This is especially important because people are supporting a cause they believe in and also getting together to talk about ways to improve the quality of life in this community. Fargo-Moorhead is bursting at the seams with people who want to get involved. With platforms like this, it is easy for residents to get active and meet people who can connect them with the right information to take a step forward and make a difference in their community and in their lives.

This week Drekker is pairing with Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanities. LAHH is a nonprofit Christian housing ministry, administered by a local board of directors, that works to build simple, decent and affordable housing in partnership with families in Cass and Clay counties. It doesn’t get any better than this; grab a beer and support the hardworking people who provide affordable housing for F-M area families.

Next week DBC will be pairing with the Great Plains Food Bank to support individuals and families who do not have enough to eat. Come out Monday through Friday from 4-6 p.m. to share your support and enjoy handcrafted Viking-made beer.

Later this week Drekker Brewing Company will be unveiling its first UnPillage Project! On Sept. 9 DBC is pairing with River Keepers for a tree-planting event. If you plan to participate in this project you will receive a t-shirt and exclusive access to the post-pillaging party! Keep your eyes on the Drekker Brewing Company Facebook page and their Twitter Account(s) @DrekkerBrewing and @UnPillage for more information on this event and about upcoming UnPillage happy hour events.

“Drekker is about more that the contents of the glass. It is about what happens when a few of those glasses get raised together.”
