FARGO – Police arrested a man Monday evening on charges related to Sunday’s shooting death at Main Street’s McDonalds.
Miguel Jay Cooley Sr., 44, of Moorhead, was charged with the homicide of Gabriel Perez. Cooley was located at a private residence in Rochester, Minnesota by the Austin Police Department S.W.A.T. team who was working with the U.S. Marshall’s High Plains Fugitive Task Force, North Star Fugitive Task Force, and Mower County Sheriff’s Office, according to Fargo Police Crime Prevention and Public Information Officer Jessica Schindeldecker.
Cooley’s Facebook page was active up until he was arrested, posting information about U.S. Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh, about giving a boss cookies before a drug tests, and having to live without parents or loved ones.
One post he shared at 11:24 a.m. Monday talks about how drugs are a bad spirit.
“The spirit of meth is darker and more evil than any seen before,” the post stated. “There was a medicine man who was tired of seeing his daughter suffer from the meth addiction so he wrapped her in a white sheet and took her out to a hill where he prayed for her life. When he took off the white sheet he said he saw the biggest ugliest human looking thing with a crooked face come out of her, it screamed an awful scream and took off into the hills…
“A day is coming when this enemy will be killed for good because this enemy only has the power we give it, we will win.”
Cooley’s Facebook page states that he worked at First Transit, a transportation and maintenance company, studied food science at Concordia College, and attended Oak Grove Lutheran School. He also frequently wrote about his love for his wife and seven children on his Facebook page.
No information was available about motives behind the shooting.
