Anime fans from near and far came to Fargo to enjoy animation, community and to have fun.
Anime Fargo rang in its fourth year in 2018, with its theme this year being “Galactic Adventures.” This year the convention was held from September 21 until September 23.
Chris Roezler, the Programs Chair for the convention, was most excited about the guests for this years line up. Among his favorites was Tiffany Grant, a voice actress who voiced the…

North Dakota State University’s Kappa Delta sorority is holding a flag football tournament in north Fargo this Sunday to honor a sorority sister and raise money for a charity set up in her memory.
Sydney Yingling and Julia Duncan describe Ellie Helm as a confident, outgoing young person who embodied what the Sigma Psi chapter of Kappa Delta at North Dakota State University is all about. Ellie, a former cheerleader, loved NDSU and seemed to know everyone,…

“You have to read the book first.” This phrase is a piece of folk wisdom everyone is familiar with. It’s generally accepted as true and I believe its origin is inherently logical. Many films are based on literature for the simple reason that literature is an older medium. From there, it makes sense that you cannot truly appreciate a retelling of a piece if you haven’t experienced that piece in its original form. Therefore, “You have to read…

Business, Holly Handful, and Sasha Savage will bring their burlesque performing style to the squared circle for…

I know that sexism exists, but I didn’t know it existed in comedy, and it’s not because I haven’t been paying attention. The idea that women are not funny never entered my mind. I’ve been a consumer of comedy my whole life. I saw George Carlin live on stage for my 14th birthday, my first celebrity crush was Victoria Jackson from SNL. Cathy Ladman, Judy Tenuta, Carol Leifer, and Whoopi Goldberg was a fav because she did a character on stage named “Fontaine” which I was too…

Ten years ago a group of individuals came together in pursuit of a common goal-to create a roller derby team in the Fargo-Moorhead area. That goal became a reality and now, nine seasons later, they are still skating and working to be a positive force in the community. They were guided by this common goal and borrowed a theme from the band Journey. It was, “don’t stop believing.”
FM Derby Girls has seen several changes and reinventions since forming a…

USB charging ports in public places are convenient but possibly risky. Data is transferable over a USB connection, so plugging your phone into an unknown charging port puts it at risk.
Let’s be realistic: You probably shouldn’t be too paranoid about these attacks. I haven’t seen widespread reports of charging ports causing problems. However, many POSSIBLE attacks could happen over a USB port, and avoiding the risk is easy enough that it won’t inconvenience you. Notice that I said…

With summer winding down, there’s still time to pencil in a weekend trip. Instead of heading east to lakes country we suggest exploring a few of North Dakota’s hot spots. There’s something for everyone here in the Flickertail state, whether you choose an outdoor adventure, scout out museums or historic sights or opt for a night on the town. If you think our state’s boring--you’re doing something wrong.

At first this was going to be an article arguing that video games are art. This is an issue that I find very important and feel many people are unaware of. Video games are a relatively new medium changing the culture as we know it and yet are often seen as mindless entertainment. But upon further research I found that, while not done to death, this subject has been thoroughly covered by sources who made most of the same arguments that I would.

I just learned how to print to my home printer from anywhere in the world using my smartphone. I spent a half hour teaching myself how to do it. Was that 30 minutes that I will never get back?
Can you do computer chores easily? Do you understand what the computer is telling you? Some people learn by looking at the monitor, some learn by listening to a teacher in a video (youtube.com) and some learn best by simply reading a book.
I have a larger project that I am working on. I have to…
By Josette Ciceronunapologeticallyanxiousme@gmail.com What does it mean to truly live in a community —or should I say, among community? It’s a question I have been wrestling with since I moved to Fargo-Moorhead in February 2022.…
